The 3 boats in SmedvĂĽgen have been a problem for several years, and without an effective small boat register, it has been challenging to remove them. The tip about these wrecks came from KV Njord, and in cooperation with Geir Istad and his team at Viking Gjenvinning A/S, a rescue mission was quickly organized.

Abandoned boat wrecks are a significant environmental problem, and the Norwegian Retailers' Environment Fund has this year alone helped finance the removal of over 3,500 tons of boat wrecks along the Norwegian coast. The boats in SmedvĂĽgen are among the many wrecks that have been removed, freeing nature from pollution and environmentally harmful emissions.

A clean coastline for Averøy
The mayor herself, Ingrid Ovidie Rangønes, was also present to witness this incredible work being done.

- No money is allocated for this here, so the fact that the Norwegian Retailers' Environment Fund comes in and helps us is nothing short of fantastic.
