Norli and the other members contribute 2 NOK per plastic bag to the fund. The funds received by the Norwegian Retailers' Environment Fund are earmarked for initiatives to solve plastic issues. In this way, the members support a wide range of environmental projects.
– The Norwegian Retailers' Environment Fund is organized in a way where funds are directly channeled into good, sustainable projects. This aligns perfectly with how we at Norli like to work. We are impressed by the excellent results the environment fund has achieved and look forward to participating in the community work, says Norli CEO Johan Baklund.
A Membership with Impact
In December, the Norwegian Retailers' Environment Fund announced that 100 million NOK from plastic bag fees will be distributed to 139 different projects, which include creating reusable fish crates and engaging youth interested in finding better solutions. A record-high 88 million was also allocated to the Norwegian Football Association for measures against the spread of rubber granulate on Norwegian football pitches.
– In total, funds from our members have, for example, contributed to clearing over 2,000 miles and 8,000 tons of plastic from our coastlines. Being a member makes a significant difference for the environment, and we are very pleased to have an important contributor like Norli join us, says Cecilie Lind, CEO of the Norwegian Retailers' Environment Fund.
