Prestigious award for HMF-supported project

We at the Norwegian Retailers' Environment Fund are proud to congratulate Gemini Corporation on receiving the prestigious international “Best Practice 2024” award for a project we support. The award was presented at the Sustainable Packaging Summit in Amsterdam, which brought together over 700 leaders from around the world.

GemCorp Recycling, which is part of the Gemini Corporation, has established innovative recycling centers in India to manage plastic waste and support local waste pickers. The project demonstrates that recycling is not only about the environment but also about social justice and sustainable solutions for local communities.

In Kerala, India, the authorities have entrusted a women's cooperative with collecting plastic waste from households, demonstrating it is more effective than if the municipalities themselves did it.

– This project is a brilliant example of how recycling can contribute to both environmental and social improvements. We are pleased that it is now receiving the international recognition it deserves, says a proud Cecilie Lind, CEO of the Norwegian Retailers' Environment Fund.

The project combats the global waste crisis by combining social innovation and efficient resource utilization. This serves as an inspiration for future sustainable initiatives.
